Landfills in Moscow and the region on an interactive map from ONF

The project of the All-Russian People's Front (ONF) " Interactive Map of Landfills " *, launched 3.5 months ago, has already collected more than 6.5 thousand requests from residents of Russia about places to dump garbage, 3.1 thousand of which have been taken into work.

This became known from the speech of the coordinator of the Public Monitoring Center of the ONF on the problems of ecology and forest protection Vladimir Gutenev at the Interregional Ecological Conference held in Kaliningrad. According to him, “this is an unprecedented number of applications, which shows the increased interest of citizens in the fight against illegal garbage objects,” and Olga Timofeeva, head of the State Duma Committee on Ecology and Environmental Protection, noted that “without people who are patriots of their yards and districts, we will not be able to change the ecological situation throughout the country for the better.” The most active (in terms of the number of complaints about illegal dumps) were residents of the Samara, Moscow and Tula regions, as well as the Republic of Tatarstan.

The conference participants also proposed to toughen the responsibility for violations in the field of waste management. In particular, Andrei Nagibin, chairman of the board of the Green Patrol public organization, noted that “in order to effectively control the sanitary condition of the regions, it is necessary to revise outdated sanitary rules and regulations regarding waste management, including snow removal and disposal.”

Finally, Vladimir Gutenev said that over 2+ years of work, the ONF Public Monitoring Center for Ecology and Forest Protection identified environmental violations totaling about 122 billion rubles, about 250 thousand hectares of forest were saved from logging, more than 60 specially protected natural territories."
