MainNewsWorld Paper Free Day is celebrated on October 22

Since 2010, World Paper Free . The campaign was initiated by the Association for Information and Image Management (AIIM). For authorized participation in this promotion, you can follow the link and get a package of services that allows you to introduce paperless technologies. "Let's learn how to use paper rationally!" - this is the main thesis of the international "paperless" day.

The reason for organizing the action is not only the marketing promotion of the latest paperless technologies, but also to draw public attention to the excessive waste of paper, especially for work purposes in offices, and therefore the main target audience of the campaign are companies. The amount of workflow and the amount of information is growing every year, and most documents are stored in paper format. Most of these printed documents end up in the trash the same day without even being used - 45% of paper documents are thrown away within 24 hours of their creation. One employee on average produces about 160 kg of paper waste per year. Now imagine that 768 million trees are destroyed worldwide every year for these purposes alone. How long does it take to grow a new tree? In addition, production requires resources and provokes pollution of the soil and atmosphere.

If developed countries reduce the amount of paper used by at least 10%, then carbon emissions into the atmosphere will be reduced by 1.6 million tons, which is equivalent to removing 280,000 cars from the roads every year. And recycling a ton of paper products saves 17 trees, 4,000 kWh of electricity, 3 cubic meters of land, 26,000 liters of water and 240 liters of fuel.

What can be done?

  • Print on both sides of the paper;
  • use drafts;
  •  reduce the line spacing of the text;
  • whenever possible, send an electronic version of the document to partners;
  • for events and reminders, use electronic equivalents, and also enter other programs for maintaining electronic records of information;
  • buy e-books, read news on the Internet;
  • give children drawing sheets on both sides;
  • use recycled paper;
  • hand over waste paper for recycling;
  • try to buy products that use as little packaging as possible - both paper and other materials;
  • use electronic tickets for a plane, train, theater, concert, etc.;
  • pay bills with a bank card or virtual wallet.

There are many more ways to save paper. The main thing is to see the problem and set a goal.

DOCFLOW project and invites everyone to become participants in the action personally or with the whole company.
