The modern rhythm of life leaves almost no time to return to the present moment and feel the value and gratitude of what we have. All people are in a hurry somewhere, thinking or talking about something, and often a meal is no more than a 15-minute quick snack, while talking with friends or in front of a computer / TV / tablet / phone. This way of eating food is not only unhealthy (when the brain is distracted to other activities, digestion worsens), but it also significantly reduces the sense of taste of food, as well as its value.
But before a certain food reaches our table, it goes through many stages and contains not only the labor of a huge number of people, but also natural resource costs. In order to grow a product, fertile land, water, air, sun, labor resources of people and their care are required. Nature endlessly supports us, giving a lot of fruits (of plant origin) not only to ensure life, but also for taste pleasures. The desire to thank Nature and the people who have made efforts so that you can enjoy food can qualitatively change your life and open up new facets of the perception of the environment. Giving thanks is not only selfishly receiving, but also selflessly giving.
Prayer before meals may not have a religious aspect (at your discretion), and it is not necessary to say it out loud. The main thing in this process is to see and appreciate what you have, and from the bottom of your heart thank and wish other living beings to also have the opportunity to use the gifts of Nature, and for Nature to receive love and care from people. Such a prayer will help you escape from the hustle and bustle, return to the present moment, tune in to eating, after which the signal from the brain will make the whole body ready to digest food. Feelings from such a meal are significantly different and the mood of life as a whole takes on new colors. Experience for yourself how small steps can make a big difference! 🙂
Also, consume wisely. Do not overeat, do not buy extra food and eat all the supplies on time. Remember that hunger in many countries depends on the overconsumption of more developed countries. Treat food with respect and try to share with others whenever possible! 🙂
