More and more services are becoming available for payment via the Internet - electronic tickets for various events (festivals, concerts, theater, etc.) and some types of transport (airplanes, trains) have long become the norm for many of us. The use of e-tickets can be more environmentally friendly than traditional methods, because it minimizes the use of transport for the purchase / delivery of tickets and the consumption of paper / cardboard (if printing of tickets is not mandatory).
Pay special attention to the printing of electronic tickets: they are usually accompanied by a comment whether it is really necessary. It often turns out that the printed version is not required at all, and sometimes some code in electronic form (on a smartphone) may be enough. For example, there is no need to print e-tickets for Russian Railways trains (Sapsan, Lastochka, Swift, etc.) and planes of any airlines* - for such trips, it is enough to present your passport.
* In the case of air travel, do not confuse e-tickets with boarding passes, which can be printed at home or at the airport (at the check-in counter or on your own using a special terminal).

PS With airports, I know one exception - India. If in Russia/Ukraine/Europe/Thailand a passport is always enough, then at Indian airports at the entrance they also check the presence of a printed e-ticket. If it does not appear, then you can get a passport at the ticket office of the airline.
