Write to transport companies about vegetarian food

The life of people who adhere to a vegetarian or more strict diet is sometimes complicated even in such simple things as long journeys using public transport: trains, planes, etc. Unfortunately, not all transport companies see a demand for special types of food and do not offer a proper choice in their paid and free food sets.

To date, almost all major airlines offer vegetarian meals and various other types for long flights, however, this option may not be available when buying a ticket - then this will require a separate e-mail request with information about the flight and ticket (check this point on the website airlines or their representatives) . On short flights in economy class, it is usually impossible to choose snacks, and with a high probability they will turn out to be with meat / poultry / fish ... Vegetarian food appeared on the branded high-speed trains of Russian Railways (Sapsan, Red Arrow, etc.) in early 2014 year, however, it is available only to passengers of the first and business class, and for everyone else there are paid options that may not be suitable.

In order for the situation to change, it is very important to express your needs - especially since it is simple and accessible to everyone. If, during a long journey / flight, you are offered food that does not suit you before or during the trip itself:

  • explicitly ask the staff if there is a vegetarian / vegan or other option for you - the regularity of such requests will form an interest in introducing this option “from the bottom up”;
  • contact the management of the carrier company with a request to add such an opportunity - the necessary data for communication (e-mail or a special online form) can usually be found on the company's website, in the contacts or feedback section.

You should not hope that the world will change quickly, but nothing is permanent and the small steps of each of us will not pass without a trace.
