France continues to delight the planet with its environmental initiatives. This time, a European state has announced its intention to ban single-use plastic utensils.
was issued in France defining the requirements for disposable plastic cups, glasses and plates. According to him, from January 1, 2020, only disposable tableware that is completely or partially (at least 50%) consists of natural materials will be allowed in the country. By 2025, the requirement for the amount of organic components in this single-use plastic increases to 60%. The new restrictions affect cafes that give out plastic utensils (knives and forks) with takeaway dishes.
Many French people love picnics in nature, during which disposable plastic (glasses, plates, cutlery) is actively used. In addition, a particular problem in this European country is disposable plastic cups. Last year alone, more than 4.7 billion of them were thrown away in France. The new initiative of the country's President Francois Hollande is designed to reduce the negative consequences for the global environment from this plastic.
It is also worth noting that just recently, on July 1, France banned disposable plastic bags in stores, and by 2020 the country will lose plastic cotton swabs.
