According to Interfax, at the first meeting of the organizing committee for holding the Year of Ecology in Russia, the head of the presidential administration, Sergei Ivanov, said that in 2019, “best available technologies” will be introduced at 300 largest and most environmentally hazardous Russian industrial enterprises, the use of which will allow minimize environmental pollution. And in 2020, such re-equipment will become mandatory for all Russian enterprises.
The authors of the initiative claim that they are pursuing not only environmental goals, but also economic ones - improving labor productivity. At the same time, a legislative framework will be formed for "the most modern standards", with special attention paid to environmentally disadvantaged regions of Russia, such as Chelyabinsk, Norilsk, Krasnoyarsk and others.
The next year, 2017, will be the Year of Ecology for Russia, during which the country’s leadership, according to Ivanov, quoted in TASS, intends to take “a real step towards the formation of a new ecological culture, when respect for nature, responsibility for the state of the environment is the norm.” behavior for each person. However, this is not a matter of one year, and the joint efforts of the state, public organizations, business and citizens will also play an important role here:
Of course, we are not talking about the fact that we will deal with environmental problems only for one year or that we will solve all environmental problems in one year, but the goal is to give a new impetus to the work that we are already doing both to improve environmental legislation and to introduce modern resource-saving technologies, cleanup of areas that have been contaminated, and conservation of rare animal species.
