The Academy publishes a monthly journal (Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, JAND), which contains peer-reviewed publications in the field of nutrition and includes original research conducted at the Academy.
The December 2016 issue of the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics published her official position on vegetarian diets, which reads as follows:

- Vegans need to have reliable sources of vitamin B12, such as fortified foods or special supplements.
The authors of the position published on behalf of the Academy were scientists from the USA and Canada. It was formulated without any support/funding, approved by the board of the organization and will retain its status until December 31, 2021.
