Recently, an interesting online service for fans of statistics was announced on the Internet - the Vegetarian Calculator . It allows all vegetarians who do not eat any animals (including fish) to count the number of sentient beings saved.
The estimate is made on the basis of the following data: in his life (by the age of 80), a person on average eats about 7500 animals (11 cows, 27 pigs, 30 sheep, 80 turkeys, 2400 chickens and 4500 fish, as well as about 400 rabbits, ducks , geese and marine inhabitants) *. Based on the number of months (or years) that you are a vegetarian, the calculator shows the number of animals saved this way, as well as the amount of carbon dioxide not released into the atmosphere due to this fact.
* Apparently, the statistics are given for residents of the United States, but, unfortunately, official (scientific) sources are not indicated.
