HomeNewsOn September 7, the H&M collection, consisting of 20% recycled materials, goes on sale

Back in February 2013, large Swedish streetwear company H&M launched a global campaign to collect old clothes of any brand and was surprised by the interest shown by the population. Since that time, more than 14,000 tons of unwanted clothes have been collected around the world.

In doing so, the company has now produced the first denim collection made from collected recycled textiles. “Creating a closed cycle for textiles, in which unwanted clothing can be recycled into new, will not only reduce textile waste, but will also significantly reduce the need for primary natural resources and other environmental impacts,” said Karl-Johan Persson ( Karl-Johan Persson, CEO of H&M.

The new collection, called “Close the loop”, will be available in all H&M stores and will be made from 20% recycled textiles and 80% organic cotton. In the future, the company hopes to increase its share of recycled textiles to 60%.
