RIA Novosti , Rosbalt and other agencies report that the 60th Eurovision Song Contest, which will be held this year in Vienna, will be the first certified environmentally friendly international event, i.e. having the status of "green event" (Green Event).

To obtain this status, all stages of the project must meet certain criteria. In particular, Eurovision participants will be accommodated only in "green" hotels, special attention will be paid to stage lighting (LED lamps are used that consume little energy) and catering (including drinking fountains), the amount of waste will be minimized and waste disposal will be carried out in an environmentally friendly way, and transportation (free for guests) will be done in order to cause minimal harm to the environment.

This approach to holding Eurovision is intended not only to draw public attention to environmental problems, but also to demonstrate specific ways to solve them, including when organizing major world events.
