Every year, regardless of age, worldview or religion, each of us is filled with the expectation of the miracle of New Year's Eve. For some, this holiday is associated with a bearded grandfather, for others - with cracker fireworks and noisy feasts in a friendly company, for others - intriguing gifts under the Christmas tree. But, unfortunately, almost any human activity causes damage to nature - especially such mass actions, after which a lot of garbage remains. Christmas trees, Christmas decorations, disposable tableware, many gifts immediately fly to a landfill, leaving behind a centuries-old mark in nature. What to do if you don’t want to break your favorite traditions and refuse your favorite celebration at all? We offer options for creating an eco-style holiday with the least damage to nature and with the greatest manifestation of creativity! Shall we try? 🙂
eco-friendly Christmas tree
So, what is the analogue for everyone's favorite green beauty? Of course, it is best to leave this beauty where she grows and where she is supposed to be - in the forest. But if, nevertheless, the holiday will not take place without this element, then it is optimal to buy a live Christmas tree (together with the ground), specially grown for this event, and then transplant it into the soil to prolong life. You can plant it in the yard, in the garden, in the country, in the nearest forest. But think first whether a few days of the holiday are worth such sacrifices.
The next option is to buy an artificial Christmas tree. This option is better because the service life is extended for many years. But usually such Christmas trees are made from petroleum products, the extraction of which harms the environment. So think again! 🙂 At the moment, you can find Christmas trees made from recycled plastic bottles, waste paper or other recyclable materials - in this case, you will make a great gift not only for yourself, but also for nature.
A great alternative to a Christmas tree is a dressed-up rosemary bush in a pot or its branches in a vase. It is healthy, beautiful, unusual and tasty, and most importantly - environmentally friendly!
The fourth and most original option is to make a Christmas tree with your own hands from improvised means. Moreover, next year's talisman is a red monkey, and she loves the manifestation of non-standard ideas. Such Christmas trees can be built from cardboard boxes, unnecessary newspapers or other paper, wooden sticks, plastic or aluminum bottles, fabric, books and other interesting materials. Photos for inspiration are attached:
But the most certainly healthy and environmentally friendly option would be an edible Christmas tree! Mmmm ... Such a New Year can be done every day! 🙂
Toys and decorations
Wreaths, Christmas decorations and various decorative items for the home will also help to create a festive mood. They can also be made independently from improvised means and used repeatedly:
holiday lights
To illuminate the space, it is better to use light-emitting diode (LED) garlands, which save electricity and your money, and are also safe and will last much longer. If you want to go even further, you might want to consider looking for flashlights that are powered by sunlight! For lovers of romance, wax candles and aroma lamps, which can also be made with your own hands, are suitable as lighting.
Here is an unusual decor for the holiday! Finally, a few more tips for an eco-friendly celebration:
- do not buy unnecessary gifts and do not wrap them in packaging;
- for carnival costumes it is not necessary to buy new clothes - you can update the old one ;
- do not cook excess food that will be thrown away ;
- do not forget about separate waste collection after the holiday and try not to use disposable plastic dishes - you can surprise guests with edible dishes !
Start the new year by taking care of our Planet, and then it will take care of you!
Ecobeing wishes everyone the completion of all things in the old year, happy and healthy holidays, the embodiment of all intentions in the next year! And may all living beings be happy! 🙂
